A combination of professional risk management experience and hours of education is needed. The following are the 2 routes:

Route 1:

  • A four year degree (or global equivalent) with 30 hours of risk management education
  • 24 months experience with risk management projects within the past five years

Route 2:

  • High school diploma (or global equivalent) with 40 hours of risk management education
  • 36 months experience with risk management projects within the past five years

The exam fee depends on your membership status:

  • PMI Member: $520 USD
  • Non-Member: $670 USD

You can take the exam either at a physical Pearson VUE testing center or online with proctoring. 

PMI does not publish a specific passing score. They use a scaled scoring method.
